NCLEX – RN Remediation & Exam Preparation

This is a remediation course designed to help those who have failed the NCLEX or are seeking licensure as an RN returning to the profession. Our NCLEX-RN Remediation program offers students the opportunity to meet the requirements for exam retake. Classes are instructed by dedicated medical professionals with over 25 years of experience.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

• Incorporate nursing frameworks to coordinate and contribute to patient care
• Effectively monitor patient and their family members, and collect patient data regarding the patient’s health status, using guidelines for appropriate documentation
• Utilize interpersonal and organizational communication guidelines for managing patient care with family members and other healthcare workers, including recording accurate patient assessment and plan of care information, and patient/family education.
• Identify nursing needs and appropriate nursing care for patients who are in pain, dying, geriatric, or who have respiratory, urinary, or digestive related issues.
• Safely and proficiently use the principles of pharmacology in patient care, including the accurate calculation of medication dosages, medication classifications, medication documentation, and administration of IV therapy.
• Observe ethical, legal, and professional limitations when managing patient care.

Student Evaluation

• Unit examination
• Improving scores on NCLEX diagnostic testing
• Clinical evaluation

For the academic portion of the course, students will be evaluated on exam scores completed at the end of each unit. All units and corresponding exams must be completed within 90 days of course start date. Students are given two attempts to pass each exam and must receive a passing score of at least 75% on all unit exams in order to pass the course. 

Students who do not complete the academic portion within 90 days of the course start date may request a 30-day extension (additional fees may apply). Those who do not complete all units and exams during the 30-day extension will be allowed a one-time repeat of the course (full course fees will apply). No further extensions will be permitted. All classroom materials must be completed and submitted before commencing the clinical practicum.

The clinical practicum portion of the course will be assessed on a pass/fail basis. Clinical evaluation forms will be completed by the clinical instructor and clinical supervisor. Students are required to pass both classroom and clinical portions of the course to receive their certificate of completion.

Grading

• Academic portion: unit exam score of 75% or greater
• Clinical practicum: pass/fail on clinical evaluation

Note: Dismissal from site of clinical practicum, incomplete practicum or unsatisfactory clinical evaluation constitutes failure of the course. Students who fail the course are no longer eligible to retake the course at Fleming Healthcare Academy.

Student Expectations

Students of the NCLEX-RN Remediation course are expected to attend all class sessions, either in person or online. Students are also expected to complete all 96 clinical hours once they have been assigned a site and clinical supervisor. If a student must miss their clinical practicum due to an emergency, students must call the program director immediately and schedule a make-up date with their clinical supervisor.

Course Completion

Students will receive a certificate of completion once their clinical rotation is completed and they have submitted satisfactory clinical forms. Upon approval, the Florida State Board of Nursing or applicable board of nursing in their state will be notified of course completion.

• Tuition: $1,500 (includes lecture and clinical portions)
• Application fee: FREE

There may be additional fees for pre-enrollment requirements. Some clinical sites may require fingerprinting, which will be a separate fee. Financial aid is not available for this course.
